The Culpeper Minute Men flag is a icon of our American identity.

Our Mission

Our non-profit was created to organize special events throughout the Culpeper Minute Men Region that celebrate our unique history, culture, ancestry, traditions and patriotic volunteers.

We have partnered with historical and heritage societies, museums, parishes, schools, preservation foundations, polo and hunt clubs, international, national, state and local agencies and a huge amount of talented history loving volunteers.

Culpeper Battalion included Orange, Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Greene and Rappahannock counties

History of the Culpeper Battalion 1775

In August of 1775 the House of Burgess met for its 3rd Virginia Convention to create 16 military districts and to appointed Patrick Henry as Commander of the 1st Regiment.

The Culpeper District was created from Orange (Greene and Madison), Culpeper (Rappahannock) and Fauquier.

Of the 16 military districts - Culpeper Battalion was the ONLY one to show up in Williamsburg with a full cadre of men, trained and on time.

While just 350 men marched - HUNDREDS prepared them for that journey and the their victories at Hampton and Great Bridge.

LOCAL Help Needed - In or Near Culpeper

Dance and Historical Fashion teachers, leaders, creators, innovators -  We need help organizing Spring and Summer English Country Dance classes and leading Historical Fashion workshops and creating costumes for visitors and volunteers.  We had great turnout in the Fall with classes and we'd like to host more at Mountain Run Winery, in local schools and retirement communities throughout the year.  All needed to prepare our community for the August Grand Ball and ALL of the historical balls to come during the America 250th celebrations.

Event and Committee Organizers -  We have a fantastic group of talented volunteers that have gotten us this far, but we need more to help execute our plans and to make them even better.  We need help with event logistics like hotels/transportation, program design, newspaper and online publications and educational outreach for the schools and retirement communities.

Crafty Creators!  If you are crafty - we've got A LOT of sewing, ribbon cockades, cameo pins, bucktails, hunting frocks, silk ribbons and other fashionable accoutrements to be made and kits distributed to other volunteer groups.  We've even got tomahawks, rifles, cannons and muskets in the works that need skilled wood and metal workers!!

Distant Remote Work - Can be Done Anywhere!

IT People - can do this from anywhere!  We need help with the G-Suite management and to help building and maintaining a website.  Website doesn't need to be complex, but we do need ability to link to G-Suite for historical documents and other downloads AND have the ability to sell products and tickets through the site.

Social Media / Marketing / Graphic Content - can do this from anywhere!  We need help creating print and digital promotions, content, posts, and all of the things that will get people interested and to drive them to the events, classes, research, etc...

Historic & Genealogy Research and Organization - can do this from anywhere!  We need help building and connecting Wikitree profiles and other open source community sites so that everyone is able to find and celebrate their Culpeper Minute Men ancestors and our regional community of patriots.
